I will start by lodging a complaint - I did not authorize hail! That shit can just cut it out right now :V

I will continue by saying that Texas has really really amazing wildflowers and I am glad I had a chance to see them before they were killed by unseasonable hail! Seriously - field upon field of nothing but blue and orange. That's the bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush. near my house there are lots of evening primroses, and 'm proud of myself for being able to identify them properly :D There is a scattering of others also, and I've got some in a little vase above my sink. Where 'vase' = jar. So pretty.

I was up at 6:20 or so to get ready for the field trip to the Elissa - Texas's official tall Ship. She is actually British - go figure! We went for the rigging and outfitting class, and we had a really nice tour led by the former boatswain and one of the volunteers who is am A&M graduate (Bart and Tom, respectively). I took an asston of pictures, though my battery was being dodgy and I may have just lost them all trying to transfer them to the laptop. barring a catastrophe of that magnitude, I am planning to analyze the ship for my third Method and Theory paper. This will be a challenge because the ship is a: a ship and b: a museum, so there are all kinds of weird conflicting uses of space and boundaries, etc, to interpret. I am looking forward to giving it a shot! If my pictures are salvageable, it means that I have everything I need to write that paper now, which is cool. I also bought myself a memento - a box! It's been awhile since I've bought myself a box. this one is nice and has an anchor on it.

Afterwards, we stopped at Captain (or Colonel, I forget now) Bubbies, which claims to have the largest standing inventory of army surplus in the world. They have all kinds of crazy things, like Queen's Guard uniforms, Romanian army uniforms, an Italian cavalier's dress jacket, pink cammo jeans, WWI spats (saucy) etc. They did *not* have buttons that i could use on my greatcoat. So instead I bought a WWII medic's pouch to use as a backup purse, and a Russian (USSR) submariner's sweater. It is large and striped blue and white. I also bought postcards both from Col. Bubbies and from the Elissa.

We had lunch at Joe's Crab Shack. I had salmon. It was salmon, but not *amazing* salmon. LeeAnne drove the van back, even though she hates driving in the rain, so extra yay for her! she also found a Dunkin Donuts. Kevin is addicted to their coffee, so we stopped. They have a min 5$ charge for debit, so i bought a half dozen doughnuts and a bottle of water, even though I only wanted one doughnut and already had water. Ahh well - I've been irrationally craving doughnuts for months now, so this should get that out of my system!

There is a goat sheep roast today that some ppl in the department are putting on, but a: I'm tired and not feeling in-person social and b: it is *hailing*. In *Texas*. In *April*. So, right. I am going to watch some Torchwood with Cat, maybe go through the last two volumes of the CoSP that I have here, and write. that's probably an ambitious night.

Also, I killed my legs at the gym on Thursday and they are still stiff and my calves feel like they are made of rocks. Hurty rocks -_- i think the sitting in the car for the drive and also the sitting to work all last night did not help :( I have been stretching even :(
