I am going to excuse the fact that I didn't wake up until almost eleven with a counter fact: I woke up for some inexplicable reason at 2;30 last night and couldn't get back to sleep for a good three hours. I am right mightly pissed for losing time this morning during which I meant to be working on an essay and also reading the dreaded france book. I'm going to finish up that paper if I can, and then read, and then I have to go into school before class to decide if I want to stay in it or not.
I am considering dropping Historical Archaeology for a few reasons: I have already done classes of this nature at Sheffield, and they were the classes in which I got my highest marks (78 and 81, respectively.... that's British system, so those are both firsts). According to the syllabus and what he said in class, Dr. Ewen is going to require us to do a project on the historical archaeology of North Carolina, but I had hoped to use the class to do something for my thesis. And the class that the New Guy (tm) is offering a: sounds really interesting and b: is probably something I can make relevant to my thesis quite easily. The class is Maritime Culture and Cultural Landscapes, and "will cover all aspects of maritime culture and interaction between seafarers and maritime communities." I don't want to pick up an *extra* course this term, and the Landscape class has the advantage that it is only starting in October.
So, I am going to talk to Dr. Ewen, and see what he says. he may let me do another project, and if that is the case, I will probably stay in the class, because the more classses that make me work on my thesis, the better.
My *other* option is to drop Conservation, and take Landscape instead. either way, I have to decide today, because it is the last day to add classes.
Suggestions from the peanut gallery?
