Jet Lag

Jet lag means I have been waking up at about 6 am the past two days. This isn't really such a bad thing. It means I am up early and can seize the day! Roight? Wel, if only I wasn't so bloody tired at 10 pm :p That's when I went to bed yesterday... around 10:30.

This morning, I have an apointment to sign forms so I can continue working for the school this year, yaaay. And then I will get paid tomorrow, hooray! This is good, because my cash-flow is a little low atm, having just paid my tuition. I also just boughht probably about 350$ worth of text books, and that includes buying about half of them used through Amazon. *sigh*. Well, some of them were just plain expensive, and some of my courses just have a lot of required reading. There are 17 books total, anyway, 1o of them for Carl's class. I t's okay. I need a bigger academic library anyway. And more bookshelves now. It's true. Books expand to overfill the available space :p

I had a really good delayed Diablotin scene last night. I was really very pleased with how it went, all told. This morning, I regret my lack of decent artistic skills, as I had a really cute idea for a picture. It had mar, tom, and Pol. Mar standing on tiptoes dangling a stolen purse in Tom's face with a big grin, thnking about food (you know, thought bubble with turkey leg ;) Tom looking lown at her, smiling a little bashfully, with a little heart in his thought bubble. And Pol luiring in the corner holding up the wall, either looking annoyed (black scribble in thought bubble) or thinking about money, I haven't decided.

Ahh well. Would have been cute. Must get dressed. Must remember to buy groceries on the way home :p Class this afternoon at three. Hrm. I forsee an afternoon of reading English society 1580-1680 by Keith Wrighton. Must get back in school mode.

Book bits

Back to the land of reading books that make me sleepy. this one is pretty good, but because I *have* to read it, it makes me sleepy. Also I ate a banana, and it is sitting heavy in my tummy. Maybe that is just all the candy that preceeded it :p My class isn't until 3:30, but I am going in early, so I can go see Carl first and get a ylabus for my tuesday class (I'm worried I will find out I already have somethign due ;p) and find the room. It is in a building which was being renovated last term. I'm actually surprised it is finished, to be honest.

The second 'book bit' of this post is a short review of one of the boks I read over the holiday, which is Terry Pratchett's 'Going Postal' )

I *knew* it!

I do have an essay due for Carl on Tuesday,. good thing I started that book this afternoon, eh? It is, of course, a book review. I figured that it would be. it seems that this course is going to be structured fairly similarly to his course last term, only without the lectures. It is *all* discussions. Which is fine. I do good in discussions. I am a star! a 95% in discussions last term kind of star, even ^-^ Steve commented that ten books seems like a heavy load. I have realized that History courses here equate with 'tonnes and tonnes of reading'. Between my two history course last term I read, lets see....16 books, not including the ones for my essays. This term, I am taking two arch courses, with three books each, which is still less reading than last term, all together. Yeek!

I just got back from my arch methods class with Dr. Ewen. I think it will be good. He is a good lecturer, which rounds out my assessment of a 'good prof' in general. The class is mixed, with grads and undergrads, but different workloads. We have to see thought a project this term, from start to write up. A small one, but still... to be honest, this is the first time I've really done somethign like this, and it is exactly the reason I didn't feel ready to do a PHD. So, I'm quite looking forward to it :) I hope it will be interesting! We are also going to be using a training CD called Revealing Archaeology. I have ordered mine, but only recently, so it should be in by the end of the week or so, I hope. Then I will have to let you know if it is useful or annoying. But Dr. Ewen says that it does have good introductory material, at least, and the devellopers are *very* helpful. I mention this for those of you out there who may teach introductory archaeology courses ;) I'll review it more once I've got it :)

...I had more to say, but it has suddenly evaporated, hrm... Ahh well.

P.S. Sometimes, I forget to put on music until I am filling out the semagic forms and it asks for current music. This was one of those times. Rah!
