Today was a much different day from the rest of the past week. For one thing, I dind't have anything I needed to get up for, so I slept in until around ten. Oooooh. Then I got up, slowly, and starte puttering around my still quite empty house, tidying thngs up. I am one of the people who proves that you will expand to fill your space... Clothes all over the floor, paper everywhere.. Anyway, Jae called around 11 and said he shoudl be there in half an hour, so then I figured I should probably also get dressed and finish cleaning :)
He made it by around 11:45. Our original planwas to go out for lunch somewhere, and he could be back on the rod by around one. Hee, that was a funny plan in retrospect ^-^
jae is really awesme. I'm always pleased when I meet my online friends for the first time and there is little to no awkwardness, and we can chat about things and hang out like we do it all the time :) We went to a Mongolian Grill House, which was pretty awesome. the buffet is a little more expensive on Sundays, btu it was really good, and I'd go again for sure! basically, you get all your veggies and meat and whatever in a bowl, pour on some sauce(es), and a guy cooks it for you on a huge flat stone grill with two big wooden sticks.
Anyway, lunch took us about a hour all by itself, afterwards, Jae very generously took me shopping to a few places for things that Iotherwise wouldn't have been able to get for a while. The trip involved a lot of short conversations along the lines of "Oh, you don't have to do that, you'll be late getting out of here!" "RThat's k=okay, I'll just stay until 2." or "That's okay, I'll just stay until 3 and drive faster." ;) Anyway, thanks to Jae, I now have a microwave, a vaccum cleaner, a wireless usb card, and some groceries which inclue perishables and meat! Yay meat! I also now have *everything* I need to make chocolate chip cookies. Yay! I think I will do that tonight, and then I can bring them to the graduate introduction thing tomorrow to suck up to my peers and proffs ^-^
Jae also made me a stack of mixed Cds, ne of which I am listening to now :) yay for music! I'd forgotten that I wound up packing my headphones in my suitcase.... I think I have some other CD's here too, including Gowan's greatest hits ^-^ So now I have something to listen to in the lab, anyway :)
I now owe Jae a lunch too, so that means we have to meet up again in the future, because I hate having that kind of debts :) It was a lot of fun to hang out with him in person, so I really do hope to do it again in the future.
So, on that note... I am now a lot closer, geographically closer to a lot of my US friends (Yes that inclused you, Ayr ;). I expect that I will have a lot of time over the summer (since I can't work here) to travel around and whatnot. Also other breaks besides Xmas (spring break, Thanksgiving, etc) when I could maybe travel for a bit. Or to have people come see me, for that matter. So, once I get a better idea what my schedule will be like, people will have to let me know what times might be good to come out and see them, or if they might come out and see the wonders of North Caroliona! We have... um... a lot of squirrels? ;D
