Today has not been precisely what I would call a productive day. I went out early, down to the department to do some computer stuff and see if there was anyone new to meet, but I got waylayed into some sort of reporter meeting session with a lady from the local paper who is going to do a story (or a series of stories, or possibly an ongoing story, I'm not sure) about the department. Anyway, I got asked some things because I'm new there.
After that, I wandered, and went to the university bookshop. I have one of my class book lists already, and I wanted to do some comparitve price shopping with Amazon. It turns out they had most of the books in, and most used. the list is 8 books long, they had six, and I bought three, mostly because I didn't now how long I was going to be carrying them around. After that, I tried to find the cashier's Office to check up on what I owed for Tuition, etc, and also to get a copy of my schedule and receipt so that I can get my 1Card (Student ID). Once I get that, I can take the ECU Transit (Free for students and University run!) bus up to one of the malls and to Walmart. And then I can buy things like a shower curtain and pots and pans. I can't even get groceries yet, since I have nothing to cook with :p I can't get the card until tomorow, though.
Yes, well, I did some more eating out today, at one of the places mentions by Dr. Runyan, and ended up paying 8$ for a sandwich. A BLT, even, on sourdough. Now, it was a damned good BLT, but not 8$ good. Even with the snapple.
I wandered home after that, and then, well, I pretty much slept all afternoon. I was going to come out here a little earlier, but there was a huge thunderstorm, which has since cleared up. yep, that's how I remember the carolinas... Anyway, I still haven't eaten anything today except that BLT and a banana, so I think I'm going to go out and seek food, after I send an e-mail to the moving company to give them my phone number and see if they can tell me a rough estimate of when my stuff will be here...
Tomorrow, I have an Internatioal Student orientation thing at 8:00-8:30 AM. Bah, that's all I can say to that.
Oh, also, if there is anoyone doing stuff online tonight, they should let me know!
