Today, my mom got told that her cancer is a lot worse than she had been lead to believe by another doctor. My family doctor, who is really excellent in many ways, called her and my sister into a meeting this morning, and told them that the cancer has mestaticized, so that now, they are basically never going to be able to get rid of it completely. He told her she could die at any time.

Technically, that is true for all of us, though, isn't it?

The first thing that I did when I stared this entry was select my mood icon.

Now I'm going to see if gaming and escapism can cheer me up much. I hope this isn't becoming a habit. I thik tomorrow I'll go hit people with swords and then hang our with mary, Ian and Clare, if they'll have me...

I guess there's nothing I can say that will make you feel better. So I'll just say that we're all here for you, and if there's anything we can do, just ask. *love*

Hi Heather-chan,

I'm so sorry to hear this. I had hoped the news might be a bit better than that. I want you to know that, like Julie, I'm here for you if you need anything.

lots of love,
Ceiridwen

We will have you, of course! We can offer cuddles and kids movies and hot chocolate, if it helps. Also, pumpkin bread. You're right, though, none of us is guaranteed a time. We just live out each day assuming that it's not the last. In a way, people who are told their time is limited are given a great gift, because they learn not to take things for granted; every moment is prescious and should not be wasted.

I'd say you could talk to my mom. Her mother died of skin cancer at 57 (nearly 20 years ago now, but I remember her). But talking to my mom is never really very helpful to me, unless you want a earful of religion. And once she starts, she doesn't stop!
