Today is the day that I run my tabletop vampire game. Before I did that, I went to the lab to print out the alternate white-wolf combat rules that Forthright has come up with. I also got a very worrying e-mail from my mom. Apparently, my family doctor wanted to have the three of us (mom, me and Hazel) come to his office so he could talk about mom's current cancer relapse. Mom doens't seem too worried. She is like me, or I am like her. We are better at taking things in stride, usually.
longpig is more fragile though, and she has been under a lot of stress to start with. Her reaction to it is here Personally... I deal with things oddly. I'm a very stoic person for most things. I'm not very expressive. I read it, and told my mom she should buy a bike. Then I walked up to Ian and Mary's, where I run my game. On the way there, I couldn't stop thinking about it... By the time I'd got there, though, I'd managed to put my mind on other things. I hung out with Mary for a while before Ian got hom and people started showing up. I wondered if I should talk to her about it, but then, what could I say? My mom is sick, and might be sicker, but I don't actually know and there isn't anything I can do about it either way? I know it won't help me or her to be worried. I've had a friend of mine tell me once that it is creepy how self-reliant I can be for these sorts of things... For now, mom is happy and feels fine, and that will have to keep me happy too...
Anyway, then I ran my game. I killed one of my PC's. He went off into known werewolf infested territory. I had him roll a luck die to gauge whether or not he would get attacked. He rolled a one. I treied to go easy, but I think I just prolonged the pain. There were three werewolves versus him, his ghoul, and two ghouled horses. One of the horses dies, and the other one knocked down a wolf. The poor ghoul died horribly. I like him, though. he was jolly. The character, Smith, the Malkavian with no Obfuscate, managed to dementation the wolf attacking him into a depressed and confused funk, so that it backed off. Then he was attacked by the wolf that had just rended his poor ghoul. They were only in hispo. They only used rage once in the whole fight. It was still a slaughter... I felt kinda bad... ButI would have also felt cheesy if I had denied the fact that there was a chance of being attacked. I let them run away from a pack last session, but they were in a much better position.
Meanwhile, there was much Toreador melodrama, some investigations of a settite cult, and some 'Ventrue' shennanigans back in Sheffield. His current plans to thwart the church are to ghoul a rural farming household (possibly sacrificing one to Delilah, a complete nutbar who is a servant of one of his higherups in... that organization he is part of ^-^), then lure the new priest from down south out there by himself on the premise of giving last rites to a dying old woman, and kill him. The plan hinges on getting the priest away from Sister Andrea-Ruth of the order Canes Dei...
I like Delilah. None of my players are completely certain what she is... And she is as nutty as a fruit cake.
Now, I'm going to go indulge in some escapism and not think about my mother :/
