Today is the day that I run my tabletop vampire game. Before I did that, I went to the lab to print out the alternate white-wolf combat rules that Forthright has come up with. I also got a very worrying e-mail from my mom. Apparently, my family doctor wanted to have the three of us (mom, me and Hazel) come to his office so he could talk about mom's current cancer relapse. Mom doens't seem too worried. She is like me, or I am like her. We are better at taking things in stride, usually. [livejournal.com profile] longpig is more fragile though, and she has been under a lot of stress to start with. Her reaction to it is here Personally... I deal with things oddly. I'm a very stoic person for most things. I'm not very expressive. I read it, and told my mom she should buy a bike. Then I walked up to Ian and Mary's, where I run my game. On the way there, I couldn't stop thinking about it... By the time I'd got there, though, I'd managed to put my mind on other things. I hung out with Mary for a while before Ian got hom and people started showing up. I wondered if I should talk to her about it, but then, what could I say? My mom is sick, and might be sicker, but I don't actually know and there isn't anything I can do about it either way? I know it won't help me or her to be worried. I've had a friend of mine tell me once that it is creepy how self-reliant I can be for these sorts of things... For now, mom is happy and feels fine, and that will have to keep me happy too...

Anyway, then I ran my game. I killed one of my PC's. He went off into known werewolf infested territory. I had him roll a luck die to gauge whether or not he would get attacked. He rolled a one. I treied to go easy, but I think I just prolonged the pain. There were three werewolves versus him, his ghoul, and two ghouled horses. One of the horses dies, and the other one knocked down a wolf. The poor ghoul died horribly. I like him, though. he was jolly. The character, Smith, the Malkavian with no Obfuscate, managed to dementation the wolf attacking him into a depressed and confused funk, so that it backed off. Then he was attacked by the wolf that had just rended his poor ghoul. They were only in hispo. They only used rage once in the whole fight. It was still a slaughter... I felt kinda bad... ButI would have also felt cheesy if I had denied the fact that there was a chance of being attacked. I let them run away from a pack last session, but they were in a much better position.

Meanwhile, there was much Toreador melodrama, some investigations of a settite cult, and some 'Ventrue' shennanigans back in Sheffield. His current plans to thwart the church are to ghoul a rural farming household (possibly sacrificing one to Delilah, a complete nutbar who is a servant of one of his higherups in... that organization he is part of ^-^), then lure the new priest from down south out there by himself on the premise of giving last rites to a dying old woman, and kill him. The plan hinges on getting the priest away from Sister Andrea-Ruth of the order Canes Dei...

I like Delilah. None of my players are completely certain what she is... And she is as nutty as a fruit cake.

Now, I'm going to go indulge in some escapism and not think about my mother :/

You can always talk to me, you know. I don't mind talking about things that aren't cheerful and bouncy sometimes. My dad had the Joys of Cancer, too, a few years back. I was like you and didn't worry much. Dad is invincible, after all. And he got through it. but it is always a rough trip.

Yeah, This is the second time she has had it... Well, second in a half. she made it into the 'officially in remission' the first time, then had it again about a year ago, and now it is back. Breast, breast, brain :( She had just finished treatments, and the chemo people didn't seem to worried, so I really don't know what the phone call is about. She is supposed to go for another CT Scan later this month... I don't know. My mom is an amazingly strong person though. I'm almost more worried about my sister right now... But mom doesn't have a whole lot of close friends, and her family are all scattered now, myself and Hazel included, which is making me really wish I could afford to go home :/

I had an NPC named Delilah in the first Vampire game I ever ran. She was nutty as a fruitcake, too (not to mention nutty for fruitcake). My players were asking questions about who/what she was exactly towards the end, too, as I recall.

I'd spill here, only one of my players reads it ^-^

She was originally a Malkavian with bulimia as a derangement. Then her role in the story got suspiciously large (considering that she was based in a different city) that people really started to wonder. By the end of the story, I'd settled that she was really an astral projection of Arikel....

hee hee... so far my pc's have guess that my Delilah might be: A Malkavian. A sabbat Malkavian. A Tsimisce. A crazy Gangrel. A Pooka.

*looks around furtively*

None of them are right ^-^

I love you daughter! I don't remember the skating?/walkman thing. Is there much of a crowd where you skate now?

Keep up the good work, and watch out for those belly-dancer groupies!
