There was a surprise in the mail for me today! The kind of surprise that was so surprising that I was convinced at first there had to have been some kind of mistake. "But I didn't order anything from Amazon..." or "Maybe this is secretly for Jodie? It's her birthday..."

But no! Upon closer inspection, it is for me! From skjaere (hope I spelled that right...)! It is a beautifully illustrated poem based on Anne Bonney and Mary Read. It's highly fictionalized too... ghost ships, everyone lives happily every after, and all. But it is right for awesome! It is The Ballad of the Pirate Queens by Jane Yolen, illustrated by David Shannon.
