We managed to get lost and screwed up a bunch on our trip, mostly not our fault (ONe ferry that was supposed to be running was not, for instance).
For those who didn't know, Rob, Hazel and I were just on a two day drive down to Maine and back, with a dual mission. Part one: take Elsa to a Chessapeake Bay retriever rescue farm down in Bremmen. This was very successful. It is a really nice place and the people there are really ace. I know she'll find a great home in no time. We also got to see a whole bunch of other really awesome Chessies! There was one blind.one eyed dog named Homer who was an especial sweetie. (He was blind from cateracts, but one was so bad that it was giving him constant migraine level paine, so the vet remived the eye completely). Anyway, it was good but we got turned around somewhere and added about an extra two hours on to our trip down. We stayed the night at the Holiday Inn at Augsta, ate at the Olive garden (good for what it was, but I don't like pasta and was tired) and saw The Punisher (something is wrong when the Dolph Lungren(sp?) version is the top slot). part two was today.... go to deer Island and scatter some of my mom's ashes. We would have been hoem a lot earlier, except that the Eastport ferry wasn't running! We rove all the way there, and tried to find it, and then confirm what was going on (There was some debate among the locals as to wether ot not is should be going or not) before we had to head back to Calais to cross the border and head in through St George and L'Etete (there are accents in there but I don't remember where). It was a very beautiful place though, I can see why she liked it so much.
We finally made it home about half an hour or so ago, and we're all a little tired. Of course, the first thing I have to do when I get in is check my e-mail (and check the mouse trap in my room... nothing yet). And I got another e-mail from ECU with all kinds of useful info and things I should know.... including the fact that they are prepared to give me an out-of-state tuition waiver for my first year (So that's 3,212AMD as opposed to 13,453AMD) *and* an assistanship for *both* of my years! I squealed like a little girl and danced a little jig that I'm sure made the house shake! I'm so excited! I hope I get to do somethign interesting, like working in the conservation lab for my 20hours a week, instead of doing somethig boring like marking papers for big classes.
Anyway, that's all my news. I have some e-mails to write now, I believe!
