I've been really retardedly busy in the past couple of days. It's been a mix of mostly good things interspersed with some that are pretty depressing and frustrating.

So I'll start with the bad ones.

My mom is in the hospital and going to be staying indefinitely. She is supposed to be moved to the palliative care unti soon, I think. She has a meeting with a Dr. Grant, the palliative care specialist from the oncology department sometime soon as well. Hazel and I are supposed to be called so that one or both of us can be there. Probably it will be just her, because I'll be at work. She has taken stress lkeave so that she can help mom and also because well, she's understandably stressed. I don't personally have that option, so it is back to work for me tomorrow, and hopefully Hazel can get some things straightened out that need straightening.

Mom herself is doing sort of medium. he hasn't been in any pain, but she's tired most of the time, and on Wedesday and Thursday she was having problems with her concentration and her short term memory which made her disturbingly incoherent to try to talk to. She was better on Friday though, but who knows?

I need to go out to her place today and pick up some thing to take out to her... some toiletries (toothbrush especialy!), and her drawing things. I also need to water her plants. Elsa is in a kennel, and we need to call them back and let them know she will be staying longer. I need to work out with my aunt how/when/whatever she'll get picked up and taken to Monctyon to stay there for now, and possibly to make more permanent arrangements, for which I need to speak to my mom.

NOw, onto thebetter things! Julie and Steve have been here since Thursday night,, and so far we've seen them pretty much every day. We went as a big group to see Kill Bill vol.2 on Friday, which was groovy. Yesterday, a bunch of us went to the market in the early morning, and then I came home and started preparing a huge dinner feast! I made two different kinds of duck (roast duck with orange-ginger sauce and spiced duck with pears), both of which turned out really well despite some minor misgivings on my part. There was also sweet and regular potatos, rice, salad, mixed broccoli and cauliflower, and probably some other things I'm forgetting, with lemon tarts and carrot cake for dessert. Julie, Steve and Stephen came over, so there were six of us in all. I mostly stayed in the kitchen while other people socialized. julie did some dishes for me, for which I am gratefuil, too. Now I just have to trick someone else into doing the rest of them, mwa ha.

I really don't know what I am doping today, though. I was tired lst night and crashed around 10:30, which mostly means I am up hours before anyone else is likely to stir. If this were a day on which buses ran, or if I had my own transportation, I would go over to mom's now and get/do some of the stuff that needs doing, but it isn't and I'm not so i'll have to wait until I know someone who might be awake before I can ask for a drive. I've already caught up reading the two comics I bought on Friday, and I guess I'll do some general internet puttering in the meantime. arr.

Palliative care? :( I was afraid something bad might have happened when I didn't see any reaction to the pirate-y stuff I posted in my LJ.

*hugs* Trying times are upon your family, it would seem. :(
