Today, I was very very sore. I usually get hit with muscle soreness, or at least the *worst* of it, thwe day after-after I do something really strenuous. Today, I was late for work, because I hobbled/limped the whoel way there. I cheated going hom by getting a drive with mom up to the mall, to try and buy a ticket for Joel to LotR, but they were sold out. I took an hour and a half long bath, though, andthat seems to have made it less painfully stiff. now the trick will be remembering not to sit in the same place all night. I must wander randomly around the house!

How did I get to this point?

Tuesday morning, I woke up, and it felt like I had pulled a muscle or something in my left hip, in my sleepo. That night, I went to Kung Fu, where we did insane kicking drills. I couldn't do any dragons because after the requiste two minute of horse stance (which I also couldn't keep up), I felt that trying to move my hip that way would cause a lot of tearing. I was so tense from work that day that I also pulleda muscle just trying to figure out the basics of a takedown move that we were being shown, let alone actually trying it. A shame, because I had to sit that whole part out :/ I think I did get a bunch more of the moves for the first form (Fook fu? Am I spelling that right? Shan?) down, but I'm too crippled from the waste down to practice much. *does butterfly hands, maybe*.

Anyway, yesterday, I was sore, as expected, and I did a lot of stretching last night so as not to be super stiff today. It seems to have mostly worked.... My right leg is more or less fine. Still stiff, but not as much as it could have been. The horrible state of my left I can only blame on its pre-kung fu condition. I hope it is okay tomorrow, though :/ I think my principle is sound, but I shouldn't work my body so hard, maybe. It makes me feel like a big wussie, though. I know that I couldn't handle doing it two nights a week. I don't think I could even make it up all the way to the SUB tonight, for instance. I blame work, all the hours of standing, in bad shoes. Which is not good, because that sin't going to be getting any better for me in the forseeable future, except maybe the shoes part. I don't want to be a wussy crippled gimp. *sad*.

I want to be an Ass-kicking, Dancing, Pirate Queen!

Honestly, if you only give yourself a workout once a week, it's always going to hurt and be hard. In order to increase muscle mass and all that other getting-in-shape stuff, you need to get exercise at least three times a week. Otherwise, your body just complains and whinges about the hell you put it through, and then, by the time the next week has rolled around, it has put all its tribulations out of mind, and you're basically starting over from square one.

Getting in shape hurts.

But after a couple of weeks, it doesn't hurt so much, and then the pain becomes something much more transitory--until Roger makes us do all those dragons again. Heh....

My butt muscles hurt, so you're not the only one who's sore.

Well, yes, to one extent you are right, but today was even more extreme than usual. I mean, generally, yes, I am still sore on Thursdays, but at least I can mostly *walk* properly.

My real fear is that I am going to wind up develloping some kind of joint problem, rather than that I am just disturbingly stiff. More from work and so on than from Kung-fu, of course.

What do you do that has you standing most of the day?

Anyhow, I don't know about you, but I have bad arches. Actually, I have no arches on my feet to speak of, literally flat-footed.

... maybe I should've been a cop. ;)

Anyhow, I got a referral from my GP to a podiatrist who looked at my feet. They crafted some shoe inserts to replace the regular ones issued with footwear for normally arched people. While your case may not be as bad as mine, it might be worth looking into. If you're going to be standing that much for a long time, you're going to want to have the best foot support you can get. I used to walk a fair ways and pay for it. Now I just walk. ;)

This isn't to say there may be anything wrong with your feet, just that, most people overlook the fact that "good shoes" include a sole that follows every single line of your foot.

Yeah, your day job just doesn't help. Neither does the pulled muscle in your neck! I broke you. Sorry!
