I'm still feeling kind of groggy, but all is good :)
We went to my mom's place for Thanksgivng dinner yesterday... we being Hazel, Jodie and I. It was good! Huge turkey (I'm sure we didn't even break into half of it). I broke out and polished up my silver carving set that I bought at some antique auction for, like $35. The knife is a bit stained (the bade isn't silve, of course), but still able to be sharpened quite nicel with the steel that came with it. The fork is all silver, though. This is the only bit of kitchen silver I own though, and I pretty much never use it. But I did yesterday!
After turkey feasting, we came home and got ready to go out dancing at the Manhatten Brass. the three of us went ver to Frankie's first, and met her and her roomate (Jamie), and a friend of theirs named Chris (who although he seems interesting, is actually pretty messed up in some ways, I hear). Andre and Matthew met us out as well, but dropped off like flies soonenough... Jodie wasn't feeling wel (I suspect bees, work, too much turkey and not enough air and water), then Hazel had to work, and Matt left then too. I came back and danced some more. Matt made an amusing observation about the place, which was that since practically everyone was facing the DJ, it kind of looked like an aerobics class. According to frankie (who spent about 5 years as a raver girl), this is because rave dancing tends to be more of an individual thing, and while people circulate around more, most people are doing their own thing and tend to face the source of the music (The DJ and main speakers) by default. Anyway, I had fun, although my lower back is sore this morning. I get that just from lying in bed too late though, so I can't necessarily blame the dancing. Also, sometimes, you could feel the floor bouncing and it was kind of creepy, but fun.
When I came home, Jodie was still up, and Matt was here. After he tucked her into bed, I made him give me a back-rub, and we sat around taking about music (and I've realized, now that I have a better definition of what it is, that I really like triphop/tryphop/whatever. The Supremes mix of Bjork's Isobel, for example, falls into the genre, as does Portishead. I always kind of wondered.
this morning, I need to do some house cleaning. Mom is bringing over the vaccum, buit we have a pile of dishes to do as well, and for some strange reason there are leaves all over the kitchen floor that now need to be swept.
Mr. Fisher came by this morning, and I gave him a pie, and he showed me pictures of Rob's new place in TO, which is severad standards of deviation better than his old hole in the basement. I gave him the medium pie, since we hadn't touched it. They are maybe feeding Dean too, so I figured that would be good. Also, housemates, do we *really* want to be responsible for having to eat an entire virginal regular-sized squash pie? I know I was doing us a favour ;) On the other hand, I have asked mom for some turkey leftovers. Maybe we could make stew in our new crockpot, or something :)
In an unrelated note, I am posting the lyrics to the song I am listening to because it makes me really like Ah-Ha.. It's mournul pop.
Forever Not Yours - Ah Ha
Hold me tight, this is a lonely night
and I've hurt you baby, 'cause you're my light
Make me strong, just like you make me weak
and your hands reach out for me
even in your sleep
I'll soon be gone now
Forever not yours
It won't be long now
Forever not yours
Memories they keep coming through
The good ones hurt more, than the bad ones do
The days were hot, and the nights were deep
And I miss you, baby
I miss you, baby
I'll soon be gone now
Forever not yours
It won't be long now
Forever not yours
I'll soon be gone now
It won't be long now
Forever not, forever not yours
I'll soon be gone now
Forever not yours
It won't be long now
Forever not yours
I'll soon be gone now
Forever not yours
It won't be long now
Forever not yours
