1. Pirates? Why? .) (I bet my one-eyed smileys inspired it, didn't they ,) )
Pirates are interesting because they are a peripheral group to society as a whole, yet they were very important and had a huge impact on shipping practices and naval law. I think that piracy is one of the few things that can still get you hung, in Canada, and possibly the US. Also, pirates make good stories, and I am a story addict. While their lives certainly were not as portrayed in romanticized films andbooks, they were certainly full of adventure, peril, violence and death. All those good things ^-^. I first got academically turned on to pirate ina history course, I believe, when I did an essay on Privateers... I did another essay on straight up pirates later, and then another one, and then I got to thinking that really, everything we know about this group comes from the historicaql record, but I bet there are some interesting things that archaeology could tell us. And there we go ^-^
2. Who is the fictitious character that out of all the books/movies/TV shows/comics/video games you've read/seen/played you most identify with? (And explain, mwa ha ha, two part question)
Strangely, even drawing on such a huge body of works... no one springs to mind immediately :o I don't think there has ever been a character from anything I've read/seen/played/etc where I've really felt that the character was like me enough to make the connection memorable. My mom can't think of any either :o I guess I'm just unique ^-^
Kind of a cop-out answer, I guess, but still :/
3. How and why did you start going on IRC? Why did you stay?
I started going on irc because of the FFRPG. I started following the newsgroup and posting a bit, and it seemed like there was a lot going on on IRC, so I figured I would venture over. I got a lot of help at first from Ayrsayle and Ryo-ohki, and I pretty much stayed because of the people. And when people left, there were still others to keep me there, and so I remain. These days, I use it a lot to keep up with real life friends who have moved away.
4. How important do you think politics is?
Hmmm... I guess I think they are important, but not in a way that directly impacts on my life on a daily basis. I kind of take them for granted, but without them, I think things would be a lot crazier than they are now. Sometimes I really don't agree with things that are being done politically, but I am definitely not an anarchist. So, I guess I am for politics conceptually, but in practice, there are a lot of problems. They are important as a societal organizational tool, perhaps?
5. What is it about you that people find irresistable? .)
hee! Lots of things ^-^ I have nice boobs, see ;D Also, I'm a pretty nice person, I'm hard to offend, I'm pretty calm and non judgemental. And I have a sarcastic sense of humour and can hold an intelligent conversation. I don't know if there is ay one particular quality that stands out. Well, except the boobs ^-^
