I have just had to apply to my mother for assistance. I have a song blocked in my head. I can remember in pretty good detail what said song is about (and I know who sings it), but not the tune, or any of the specific lyrics.

The singers are Pamela Morgan and Anita Best, I'm pretty sure. It is definitely a duet by two women, anyway. I don't remember the name of the CD either, it may just be self-titled.

The song is a woman-loves-sailor song. I think it starts with her watching her father's ship sail in by a cliff or something, and he asks her why she is sad to see them leaving. She tells him (eventually, I think she might be reticent a bit initially) that the man she loves in on one of the ships that is either leaving or coming in. She tells him the name (which I don't remember, of course), and he asks what his position is (is he a captain, or is he a sailing boy that sails the salt sea... I *almost* had part of it there!), and she says he is just a sailor.

Then they are on the ship, and he calls up all the men, and her boy is the last one to come up, of course, and he has all the classic looks of a good little rich/upperclass boy... skin as white as milk, curly yellow hair, red lips, etc. And then he and her father have some conversation about would he give up the sailoring life for her, and so on, and it comes out that the guy is actually really rich, and they don't need the father at all. Really, it is a fantasy song for some girl who was in love with a sailor and knew her father would never approve.

Anyway, this song is bugging the crap out of me! I can *almost* hear it, and *almost* remember it...

Although I have no idea which song you are talking about, I thought I'd take this opportunity to mention that I have added you to my friends list. You were suggested to me and after reading some of your journal I signed on.

No problem :) I'm not promising that I'm *really* that interesting though :o

You haven't slept through my journal yet. I comment quite a lot when I'm online, it may get annoying at times.
