Sometimes, I forget that I like music until I start to make an LJ entry. Sometimes, I forget until I go to fill out my mood. *hop*
So, my last two days have been filled with incidents of cuntyness, from various people. I'm going to deal with these in order of significance, rather than in order of events.
So: least cunty: I was at Sobeys yesterday afternoon, and I wanted to buy some chicken strips and potato wedges for a late lunch/early dinner so that I could digest before my dance class at 8. Apparently not believing that I was honest enough to pay for them, the cunty deli counter person put a magnetic tag thing on my take-out container. Please! How cunty. In a kind of amusing way. Of course, I paid, but the thingy went off anyway, because they *always* do for me. And they just let me go out anyway, so nyah! I've never had them do this to me before, so I don't think it is a policy, or certainly not a strictly enforced one, which is why I am listing it as an act of cuntyness. Also, in the end, even though I'd eaten by 3, I still got stomach cramps when we were practicing hip kicks :o
The next most cunty thing is pretty cunty indeed. It is a major jump from item one to two on this list. This is a work thing, too. Today, Crystal, who is usually in on Fridays, had taken ther day off (more on that later...). So there were only two of us, and Fridays are generally pretty long anyway. One of the servers had volunteered to help out, but she didnèt even wake up until she was supposed to be in (at 8), and only showed up around 10. :p. So it was a hectic day to start with. And to top that off, Donny was in. I don't know his actual title. I generally refer to him as Cunbty McCunterson. Not only was he in, being cunty in full force, but he had a JCIT with him... Junior Cunt in Training. His job, apparently, is to go and be condescending, patronizing, and generally a big jerk to people who are trying to do their jobs. He doesn't even know what he is talking about half the time. He was going on at one point to the JCIT about how us peons can't see the forrest for the trees, but to use his analogy, it seems he doesn't remember that a forrest is actually composed of a number of trees. Meh. Let me give and example. It was around 4 (which tell you how long the day way, blah. I'm usually able to make the 3:30 tai chi classes at the gym on Fridays), and Jainie was pretty surly because we weren't done, and so on. People who had told us they would help were no so helpful, and all in all, with Donny and his JCIT around, it was not a good day. So, he calls her and Dave (assistant kitchen manager) to come out to Pizza Salad to 'see if they can help him find the thermometer that is supposed to be in the right hand side of the fridge, because he can't seem to find it". Only make that the most condescending tone you can manage. Gah. Apparently, the JCIT offered, and then actually went to his car to get a flashlight to 'help them look'. Yes, sure, maybe there was no (fucntional) thermometer in there, but you don't have to be so cunty as to make a spectacle tlike that out ofb it. I personally think that the thermometer was plunged deeply inside of Donny's ass. He never apologizes when he is wrong, either. Instead, he finds something else to be cunty about. I have resloved that next time he comes in, I am only going to talke to him like I am adressing a two year old. Well, like most people address two year olds, or puppies. It is Heather's 'Reverse Golden Rule'... It is fair to treat peopel the way they treat you in turn, because that is obviously what they want. Gah. I hate him like I hate health Inspectors, and maybe more.
Item the Third. The Crystal Situation. This is a situation on which I'd like to actually seek advice, so if you have any, feel free to give it. It goes like this. Crystal and Jainie are my Thursday and Friday co-workers. They are a mother-daughter team, and both work weekdays at ESM. Crystal is, I believe 23, and has a 2 year old daughter. All is fine so far. Janie is quite raucous and gossipy, and kind of two faced sometimes (nice to people she bitches about, sort of thing. But not always). Crystal is mostly quiet, and efficient, and doesn't talk to most people except her mother, and her boyfriend.
So, now we come to the 'cunty' bit. I have noticed a few times before that sometimes Crystal would go talk to her boyfriend (who is a line cook), and come back seeming upset... like trying not to be crying upset. The times I have asked her is she is okay, she of course, says she is fine. I was willing to accept this, I guess, because it didn't seem my business, and it kind of isn't, I realize...
But Janie has told me more, now. Apparnelty, Rick is pretty much a controlling emotionally abusive type. For those of you who knew it... think of the Madeline-Daniel situation. Crystal isn't allowed to talk to anyone at work unless she has to (me and Janie), and him. She doesn't get to go out places. She isn't allowed to go out with *her mother*. She gets yelled at if she tells her mother her problems. He plays little head games with her... phoning and hanging up repeatedly, and so on. Apparently, his treatment of her is undermining her authority with her daughter, who thinks it is okay to talk back to/yell at/*hit* her mother.
To an extent, this is totally *not* my problem. I'm sure some of you are thinking that I should stay out of it, and I realize that this is a very viable option. On the other hand... This is stuff that is happening at work, to a person that I work with and on who I rely to get stuff done on a daily basis. Their little fights (and I guess, my boggan senses were off on that one, because I didn't realize they were *seriously* fighting, so much as horsing around... Crystal's surliness makes her hard to read sometimes), waste time, and resources, and whatnot. People who make people cry at work should not be acceptable. Janie tells me that he has been given *seven* written warnings, and still is employed. So, basically, he is allowed to get away with this. And she is responsible, too I suppose. It seem fairly reasonable to assume that this is a security issue for her, as she is a young single mother. I can understand her being afraid of being alone... but I can't imagine ever letting someone treat me like that, *ever*. What can I do? Complain to the manager? Tell him next time it happens that 'If you are gogn to emotionally abuse your girlfriend, can you please do it on someone else's time"?. Also, Janie is threatening to quit over this... Basically 'if he doens't go, I will'. I'd really rather *not* see her quit, for various reasons. He is apparently a bad worker on other accounts too, so... I don't know :p Shall I reiterate my personal belief that you do not continue to employ workers who go out of their way to MAKE PEOPL CRY at work on repeated occasions? Blah. I hate seeing people in situations like this. I think her mom secretly wants me to beat him up. Or someone to, anyway. I quote "If she weren't my daughter, I'd have laid him out by now". She is afraid that if she interfers, he(Rick) won't let her(Janie) see either her daughter or her granddaughter. Now, I'm not going to beat this guy up, that would be silly. And I don't think I know Crystal well enough to talk to her about it. She is clearly trying to hide it... meh. MEH. CUNTY!
