Woot, people in [livejournal.com profile] askahistorian have actually been asking me about pirate-y things ^-^ Which makes me feel all clever.

Also, mary has recommended me another Eco book The Island of the Day Before, which is about 1700 boat stuff, written in an eighteenth century writing style. Hmmm... I do keep meaning to check out the local library. Maybe they have it.

Arr!

In not-so-clever news... I've been having a hard time lately motivating myself to go to the gym some days. Like today. I am breaking my pattern of going m-w-f. Well, I may get there on Friday. I'll try, since they have a conveniently timed Tai Chi class. Today, I'm not even dressed and it is 3:00 :/ man, I'm lame. I need to have something to eat too, I haven't had anything but sugar yet today. (I had eggs for breakfast, see. Robin's eggs...)

Tonight, Exia is cancelled, but Joel is taking me to see Bullet Proof Monk instead, so yay! And we're going to the early show, so I should be around afterwards if there is anything fun going on.

In other, neither clever-nor-unclever news, I have an interview on Thursday, for a potential second job. I have to go in at 6:00 to see if I want to be a food-serving type person at Galaxy Cinemas. Why can't I escape food service? o_O

Ahh, well. For a couple of shifts a week (in theory), the extra money would be nice...

I did look into the driving school thing, but there was only one class that I could make at all, and it had already started, and I didn't have the money. Also, it was on a Wednesday night. I think I'm going to look into actually getting my beginners first, and maybe just paying for some driving lessons, or something. Hmmm...

Anyway, I think I'm goign to get dressed, have some food, and them, hmm. maybe work on the C-Verse Schola stuff. I have things I need to type up so that more people can play there. We've only done one IC there. I'm trying to find a good balance between creating the setting, but not controlling everything, so that people can play there when I'm not around or whatever. [livejournal.com profile] curtana has been very helpful with offering to take on various authority figures and whatnot... And I think [livejournal.com profile] xypharan will too, but I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet.

Also... There seems to be a trend for me develloping. At least one of my days off every week so far has been consumed by hours and hours of IC ^-^ This week it was with Julie, and she posted the logs (which need to be fixed, but she is at work) in Rocksfall. hmmm... I wonder if this trend will continue ^-^

I'm a geek ^-^

I would if Tristis hadn't gotten picky about things.
Or if there were chairs at the SUB computers.

Maybe the stupid Zellers will hire me. Bleh.

Island is probably the least popular of Eco's books, and therefore the hardest to locate. I was fortunate to find a hardcover (new!) copy on Amazon for $4 US. Some sort of odd, random sale, I guess. But with your special knowledge of that historical period (mid-17th century, to be precise), you might have a special appreciation for it. I hope you like it.

Hmm... I have a copy sitting on my shelf that I keep meaning to read. Must get around to that at some point. Anyway, all I was going to say was, mine was bought at Chapters without difficulty. :)
