Yesterday I took an antihistamine so that I could let Maze out while Sierra was outside. I was unable to stay awake really post 10:00. This should have been predictable, and in fact I *did* predict it when I took it, but then I had forgotten by the evening. "Why m I so tiiiireeeeed?!?" Nary and I started reading the Leia book, but I don't think I even made it through chapter one. I remember thinking the material the statue of Bail Organa was made of sounded really impractical. Think it through, writer!
And yesterday was otherwise really productive and busy. I made myself a really nice breakfast sandwich... Not really all that different from my usual, only it was on a croissant, and had bacon. And I used strawberry freezer jam. I did something similar this am, only I used toasted cheese bread, and therefor did not use cheese. So good!
Yesterday was also another Geek Girls hike, which was fun. There were five of us who showed up, and I brought Jola. Man, she *loves* it. She got so excited when she saw Anne's car! And when we are on the trails, she wiles impatiently when we stop for things, and on the way back she really wanted to go down all the unexplored paths instead of just straight back. I'm glad that I've been able to take her. She's such a good dog :3
We saw lots of cool naturey things, includng white trilliums with some green stripes on the petals, which we later learned was due to some mycoplasmic infection. Probably. It hasn't really been studied for some reason. I assume the parasite has some reason to want the plant to produce extra chlorophyll? There were lots of birds, including some orioles and a blue jay, and red winged black birds. And a toad, and a couple of garter snakes :D I only saw one of the snakes though, but it was super cute and very willing to pose for pictures :3
Other than that and some general house things, I managed to get the bark peeled off the cherry that Nary brought me last weekend, and off some of the maple I saved from last year. That stuff is now soaking in water. In preparation for playing with the same, I scoured the huge batch of cotton that Longpig got me at the knitter's frolic, and put it and the linen skein I have in to my tannin bath to premordant. The cotton loks like it is soaking it up fine... the linen less so :/ It might need more scouring, maybe? But I think my tannin bath is dead, unfortunately. And the sumac isn't leafing yet, which puts a damper on doing anything more with vegetable fibers :( At least my maple bark is in a jar, so it will keep fine. The cherry is in bags and I'm not confident it won't leak. But if my tannin bath is dead it can go in that bucket once I take the yarn out of it later to rinse and scour! Exciting! The cherry had a bunch of weird fungus on it too (which is why the tree had to get cut down) and I'm suuuper curious how that might affect things.
Other than that, I did a little house tidying, and worked on Jukebox, and took a bath. Today I need to do laundry, and do more house tidying, and write more fic. No games this week, since Nary and Forthright are busy getting ready to put their house on the market, so I should have lots of time for writing, if I can get started! I'm really excited about this story though. I wish I'd had more energy for writing yesterday.
