I wish I knew more about these fields to offer helpful advice. The conflict between wanting to stay where you are, and the lack of jobs in your very specialised skill sets, sounds like the biggest issue. Good luck.

Some of the skills you list seem very useful generally - project management, stuff like I have done academic research fieldwork, and I ran a tiny project in a foreign country, and had to deal with all that entailed - getting permits and permissions, budgets, travel and accommodations, taking care of my tiny crew, and I've done a lot of writing up of workflows and policies and logistical planning that no one actually uses :p I'm pretty okay at organizing things and dealing with people. - maybe that is easier to leverage outside of your preferred fields?

I don't know, man. Good luck again!

Thanks - I'll figure something out, I'm sure. I think part of my despondency is thinking that maybe I could stay here, even if the contracts are super short term and such, but also being very frustrated with the work and organization a lot of the time. I should aim higher, but I don't know where to set my sights >.>
