I am house sitting. There is a cat - a grey cat, probably with a fair amount of Russian Blue in him. He is an indoor/outdoor cat. He is a Mighty Hunter.

This is not an exaggeration - he once brought home a live owl.

I have house-sat here for two? Three maybe now? summers, and he had never brought me anything. Apparently he is trying to make up for that now.

Earlier this week, I think on Sunday night, he brought me a rat. I know he brought it *for me* specifically because he woke me up out of a dead sleep to announce it to me. He carried it to the kitchen when I went there to try and find something to dispose of it in. I was not awake and thus not 100% sure it was really dead, so I wound up scooping it into the compost bin and then tossing it contents out on the front lawn, to be dealt with in the morning. "Yay," I thought, "he must like me :p"

Last night was the Rattening Round Two. He brought one into the house in the early evening - but this was *his* rat, see. Honestly I think he just didn't want to eat it outside, because it was cold :p I tried to take it away from him because he was eating a dead rat in the kitchen and that's gross. He wouldn't let me have it and I was afraid of how that fight might go for me and the kitchen if I insisted. So instead I just threw him, rat in mouth, back outside. He trotted off to consume his snack elsewhere, looking rather nonplussed. I am desperately hoping there are not rat bits somewhere out in the back yard, waiting for the dogs to come across them >_<

That was not the end of the Night of the Rat though! As one does, I again woke up out of dead sleep to the sound of a cat puking. I knew he was in my room, but not *where*.... Rapid action discovered him on the dresser, puking up among all my things, like Christmas books and clean laundry :p

Puking up too much kibble and dead rat, that is.

I managed to act quickly enough that he did not actually get puke on any of my things, although he jumped down to finish the job on the rug, because cat.

So I cleaned up the rat puke, and went back to bed, thoroughly disgusted.

About an hour or so later, he brought me what I like to think of as the Apology Rat.

"Sorry I was a dick earlier - I brought you your own rat though! This one is all for you!"

Ugh. After confirming that it was thoroughy deceased, I scooped it up in a dog poop bag and left it out on the front steps, where it currently remains >.> I'll deal with it when I take out the rest of the trash later :p

After *that*... He jumped up on the bed in front of my face and got pushed away. And then he spit up on the comforter in the middle of the night, necessitating me throwing it in the laundry bin and then scavenging extra blankets. Bed laundry is also on my to do list here shortly :p

The saddest part is that this was the point when I got serious about closing him out of my room. I'm so used to sleeping with the door open that I have a hard time not doing it :p

And that was the night of the Rat :p The family should be home in the next few hours, and before that I have some more cleaning/tidying to do:

Bed Laundry - in the washer - last load in the dryer = done enough
Clean my bathroom
Trash
dishes (wash hand dishes, deal with dishwasher) - about to start this, then maybe I will take the dogs out for a short walk? No walk, timing too uncertain.
vacuum the couch and chair where there have been illegal dogs.

I've already swept the floors and started consolidating my things, but I have more things to consolidate as yet.

Better get cracking, so off I go!

Now I wait... Until tomorrow. I got my dates wrong -_-

That is an amazing litany of rat-related woe!

I would have accepted the Apology Rat at face value if he hadn't spit up on the quilt after that >.>

Since I'm here for another night, I am hoping it will be rat-free!
