Ralf stood in the Cellar, watching Ander clasp arms with, then half-hug, the tall blonde man.

"Captain," the main said, teasing.

"I'm retired," Ander quipped back with a grin.

It was strange to see him in civies, not to have to call him by rank in front of others. They'd talked about the life before; Ralf wondered if it felt as strange to Ander to be back in it now.

"So who's your friend?"

"Evard, this is Ralf Enderlen. He was in my unit. He's solid."

Evard looked him over, looked back to Ander, and nodded.

"Welcome our family, Ralf."
