Not much to say. I started my True Detective write up, and if I dig it up I'll try and keep working on it and post it soon!

Meanwhile, my brain has been consumed by the Webercon Star Wars game characters, and despite drabbling for them, and starting on a longer piece last night, I am actually hoping to do a long actin adventure character bonding piece. At least I know the people in the game will read it. And hey, it will be Star Wars-y, so maybe I'll get some other curious onlookers? Come on, who doesn't like Sith Heretics? ^-^ I do vaguely worry that my knowledge of extended universe stuff is severely lacking, but this is based on a game, so it is basically all canon divergent anyway.

I am getting lose to being done with ease (the sweater I've been working on). I am at the cuff of the first sleeve, after starting it on Sunday, and therefor I figure I can probably finish it by next Sunday, assuming game and sufficient TV watching. We'll see~!

I have been terrible at being an adult. I haven't sent the stuff, but will on Monday, I promise! I have it mostly packaged up, at least, I just need a letter to include with it, and to double check that I stuck the CDs in correctly. I'll get that all sorted this weekend and mail stuff on Monday. And I will email folks as well - I got hung up last weekend trying to find an email address.

I've also been busy with tag wrangling ans some staff stuff that I need to devote some more serious tie to this weekend. And I have that Raksura fic to write, etc. I'm almost done reading Return to Night though, and I can re-read Cloud Roads more concertedly.

Work is going okay, though we keep expanding the expectations for me, which is to say it keeps expanding to meet my time. I have a review soon, and am supposed to have completed 130 boxes by the end of the month. I'm pretty sure I already have, but I should double check! if not I'm close.

Speaking of work, I just opened a box yesterday before I left, and I should go catalogue all the things! It included some pieces of Mt. Washington Glass Co. Royal Flemish glass, which is really quite pretty. We have a vase quite like this one:

And Because I can share, here is my youtube work playlist, which is a work in progress itself! I'm open to suggestions to things I should add - it is what I use when Last.fm is being a butt or when I want more things I'm guaranteed to love:

Any advice or links to advice about better tagging fic? I've been with online fandom long enough that in the day, there were just a 'few' (cue St. Crispin's Day speech) things the engines could sort by--way less fic.

In general, I tend to be or the 'more tags is better' school. I only use them at AO3, since I pretty much only post there and my writing journal (mostly with AO3 links ;p). At A03, Tags are really meant to help users find things in searches, so it is useful to think about what kinds of things readers might be looking for - porn and kink tags will draw readers into almost any fandom, I find. There are tags for pretty much anything you might want to warn for in a story beyond the general archive warnings. Tag for anything you think might draw someone into a story, whether it be the setting, the relationships between people (like 'Married couple' or 'established relationship' kinds of relationships). And do add tags that don't exist yet! Wranglers will take care of them :)

I guess I'm running into the issue that I don't think of my stories as a sum of particular tabs and slots, so I'm not sure which substantive things help people find things. I'm not on comms any more, so other than my circle, I'm 'communicating' via feedback and statistics.

I don't think of mine that way either - I don't think most people do, unless they're setting out to write specific tropes. Tags aren't about tags and slots - they're more like descriptive labels.

I guess a good place to be would be to think about how you would describe your story and see if there is anything you can use in there like "This is a story about two people, one of whom is a werewolf, who meet in a diner and make friends. They might have been more than friends, but the werewolf has a dark side he can't quite keep under control, and things get a little out of hand." That gives me some potential tags like 'werewolf' and 'emotional issues' and 'diners' and 'first meetings'. Thinking about other specific things that happen is helpful too. Is there a fight or some kind? You can tag it action, for instance. You can tag for genres as well, like fantasy, sci-fi, horror, romance, etc.

hmm, it just seems, like they need a standard way of hiding the tags themselves if that amount of tagging is useful. I mostly just scan the new fic in my current fandoms and read what seems not to violate more grammar and craft than the story warrants.
