elanya: Sumerian cuneiform 'Dingir' meaning divine being/sky/heaven (Default)
So, the DDoS attacks on LJ, though I understand their reasoning and really don't hold anything against the service, have made me decide to try an actually start using my dreamwidth account as well. I've had one for a while and have used it to keep up with some friends who have fully migrated, read some communities (when I remember) etc. I'm not giving up on LJ, though, partly because I feel like I have real roots there (my journal there is almost 10 years old!), and partly because knowing that it is a meaningful world community makes me feel strangely.... Internets Patriotic? I dunno. But feeling like I have any kind of connection to people who are doing Good Things (like being a voice for democracy) makes me feel a vicarious pride :p While that is somewhat selfish, I feel like running away from mild inconvenience is also selfish. Anyway - there are people in both places I want to be in (better) touch with, so welcome to crossposting city. If anyone has any good suggestions about posting clients that crosspost well, I would be interested in recs! Right now I'm doin' it from the main dreamwidth page, because that seems easy, but I generally prefer to post from a client.

Anyway, hello possibly for reals DW people - I don't post much anyway, but my journal import seems to be complete, and now you can expect more real posts from moi, where more = maybe 1 or 2 a month, and 'posts' may quite often be tedious to-do lists. Lj folks - carry on, nothing to see here @_@ My username is the same in both places.... much like the content :P

Oh yes, hello facebook too, let's see if I can cascade post to two platforms :D

So, onto my Spartacus/Mythos-ish dream from last night... Okay not I have to figure out the code for cuts in dw @_@

Dreams on Dreamwidth @_@

I had a dream where Spartacus (from the hilarious Starz show I have been watching with Julie lately) was an [underwater archaeologist?] who got led to Atlantis/R'Lyeh and found a little C'thulhu girl (tentacle face @_@). And whoever had directed him there (a sort of mysterious culty-type figure, I guess) wanted him to bring his wife around to help raise her because she wasn't.... tainted/protected from having visited the city and therefore was better suited to being warped to the child's psychic needs. Also possibly something about her maternal instincts making her more sympathetic and thus vulnerable?

Spartacus (well it really just looked like him and Surra, of course ;) had been given some kind of special stone key to get into the city in the first place - I remember that very clearly, and wasn't suited to raise her because of that.... Of course he didn't know what was going on in the cult dude's mind, but he was suspicious and didn't want to get his wife involved, but things kept coming up so that he had to. I dunno, I think my subsconscious was giving in to gender stereotypes about the ability to care for children on their own @_@ I blame an LJ entry I read by a (male) friend of mine who had his <1 old daughter left in his care alone for a day and after having a relatively easy time of it, wound up locking himself out of the house :p

The Cthulhu girl in the dream was probably about 6, with blonde curly hair. And tentacles for a mouth. She was mute (go figure) and a bit autistic (also go figure). I don't know if she was evil or just a vessel for it.

Oh, brain. Though I think I am getting better at sorting out where particular elements of my dreams come from. I think the Mythos bits come from reading another lj friend's entry where she mentioned mythos writing she is working on which deals more with women's roles... possible the mother/daughter/raising a baby deep one-ish girl bits are influenced from that as well ;)

It would probably make a pretty decent story, really, if I ever had time to write @_@

As an added welcome bonus, have a link to badass video from the French Mozart Rock Opera that I also watched with Julie this weekend. So much win! This is a song about how (hot emo) Salieri feels when he first hears (hot gothy) Mozart's music ;) Stupid disabled embedding.... go watch :D It is in French, but potential language barriers in no real way impede its awesomeness, I promise!
