Westerdahl talks about shipyards a bit, and I think it is worth me looking at how a shipyard works with my new categories.
First it is a place, generally near the water, dedicated to the production of maritime technology, where specialized knowledge of the maritime environment (as relates to material culture especially) is both employed, communicated, and at least potentially developed. It likely has some kind of specialized structures - at the very least a slipway.
