Tartimus Prime - Trifle Berry Tart - Theme Post

Err, *inadvertantly* crossposted from [livejournal.com profile] bakebakebake

I'm not 100% sure what to call this, so I guess I'll go with trifle berry tart:

Crust - a.k.a the baked part:
Preheat oven to 350 F.

3/4 C butter
1 1/2 C flour
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar

Crumble together, and press into the bottom and sides of your pie plate or tart pan. Bake for 15-20 min, until just starting to turn brown. Let cool.

Meanwhile, assemble the other ingredients:

Next up is making the stabilized whipped cream which is needed for the bottom layer and the top. I only used 1 small carton (1 cup, or 250 ml) of heavy whipping cream for both, which I think worked out well! You can use coolwhip instead (my grandmother does), if you like, but I personal find it revolting and prefer whipped cream -_-

Bottom layer:
1 C whipped cream
8 oz package of cream cheese (or neufchatel, whatever ;)
1/2 C icing sugar

Whip together until smooth, spread in the bottom of the cooled tart shell.

Layer two:
Berries!

(I initial made them look pretty.... then I added more, to pretty much cover the bottom layer).

Layer three:
Pudding! not quite according to instructions though...

1 large box pudding mix
2 C cold milk

The box I used called for three, but I used less to make it thicker and more intense. Also, err, I only had 2 cups, or i might have added close to 2 1/4 or 2 1/3 -_- If you used a regular sized box, add 1 1/2 C milk. The pudding set on me very quickly - as I was layering the berries in face, so my recommendation is not to mix it until the berries are in place, so you can pour it over instead of having to spread it, as I did.

Layer four:
Add the rest of the whipped cream, and decorate with other berries, as desired.

Let it set for a few hours (if you're patient...), and enjoy!

(I gave a chunk of mine away to a friend, a: so that I wouldn't eat the whole thing myself and b: because he's been taking me driving so I can achieve my goal of having my license before I'm 30 :p

I am jealous of your mad baking skillz. Also of the people that get to eat it.

Mmmm...

One of my students made a fruit tart as part of the last project. In her evaluation, she wrote (among other, less amusing things) "I didn't like it but then I'm not really into that sort of tart."

I probably shouldn't admit that I feel off the sofa giggling and phoned my husband at work to read it out to him, should I?

PS Mmm... tart :-)

I feel 30% more tart like...... like I needed to be more of a tart!
