I went to go see batman with a girl who is experienced in the world of plantation archaeology. When it turned out that historically the Waynes have been involved in the underground railroad, and thus there was already a convenient tunnel to the bat-cave-to be (this is hardly a spoiler, get over it ;), we both sort of looked at each other, trying our best to muffle our laughter. the Underground railway Tunnel is just such an ubiquitous myth. There is always a tunnel. There is a 'tunnel' in bath too, allegedly: Blackbeard used it to smuggle his goods ashore to the governor, etc. of course, you *might* want to ask yourself why, if he was in league with the givernor, he would bother to do much hidden smuggling, and thus why he would need a tunnel. Aren't urban (or perhaps rural, in Bath's case) legend's great?

Fredericton really does have tunnels. They go from the university all over downtown. I think it would be great fun to explore them. I wonder if there are maps? Apparently there were some break-ins on campus back in 1998 (I vageuly recall this). I wonder what, if anything, was ever done about it. I wonder what's down there....

Anyone feeling adventurous? :)
