I have not ben sleeping well lately. Yesterday, I woke up at 4:30 for absolutely no reason. On thop of that, last night was not the first time in the pastweel or so that it took me over an hour to fall asleep. Partly this is Scallywag's fault, but even after I close my door so I couldn't hear him on his squeaky wheel filed with stuff, it took me a while to fall asleep. This is really just poor timing, as I neeed to be more, not less alert. On top of that, I almost slept in too late to go to school and print my essay. And then I forgot that I am trying to improve my typing. My biggest problem with that is not looking at the keyboard. I keep having to look at it too remember where the keys are, and where my fingers are. I wonder if there are any free typing tutorials on the internet, since I don't remember which fingers are supposed to hit which keys. Bah!

Really, I just hope that I am awake enough today to get some real work done :P

I would be willing to bet that if you can look at the screen instead of the keyboard, you will see the mistakes as they crop up, and be able to fix them. I know I don't have proper typing technique (fingers not on the right keys), but I can avoid typos and go pretty fast nevertheless - I just correct the typos as I make them. But maybe you wouldn't notice them? I know you don't always see the typos in your own writing when proof-reading, so maybe this would be similar?

I know the answer! You need to get a copy of "Typing of the Dead"!

Seriously. They took one of the House of the Dead games, and repackaged it as a typing tutorial. You have to type words correctly to kill Zombies. I bet that's something you could really get behind.

Left and right index fingers go on the 'f' and the 'j' keys respectively. You may notice little tabs on your keyboard on those keys. The remainder of your fingers rest on the keys horizontally outwards from there. You can reach a row up or down and notice that there's an easy key for each digit that will let you cover all the outlying letters. Thumb for the spacebar (either). The stuff in between (rest of letters) is usually handled by the index fingers.
