I am sick. I feel better tonight than I have all day, but still kind of crappy. Thankfully(?) I was able to pretty much sleep all day, or at least doze, wth my puppy curled up at my feet. She is sitting beside me on the bed as i type this. Total sweetheart.

In order that my weekend not be a total write off, I have been looking over an NSF application prepared by one of my colleagues. I may poke around a bit more at mne in a bit. or I may do some history readings.

I also submitted Cursed Wreck to Arkham Tales, a new lovecraftian horror mag that [livejournal.com profile] curtana put me on to a while ago. This was prompted by my finaly receiving my first copy of Cemetery Dance magazine, which I ordered.... Dark aeons ago ;p I thiik they are more likely to like Shadow of a Place, and it isn't ridiculously long, the way CW is (7200 words! Yikes!). I should get it ready and print and sibmit it. I'm still waiting to hear back about Keep Off the Grass, but that (probably rejection ;p) should come any day now. I still don't know where I should try Soul Proprietor.

I started writing a Steam Punk story on the way to TO, but I haven't looked at it since. And I have all my TF fics and abandoned serials.... :/

I would like to try and set up a more scheduled creative writing time, but I think I'd do better at it if I had some external support. I suspect it will be a nice break from working on grants and so forth. Speaking of, I should get to work on something like that, shouldn't I :/

So then - gonna read 2 history articles and then poke at NSF.

So for those of you who have read my story, Shadow of a Place, do you think it would fit for this call for submissions? I am not super familiar with that particular author, but history, and the recording, and researching thereof, is an important element of the story, and there repercussions of making assumptions in that regard.... It is not sci-fi though. thoughts anyone?

ETA: Eh, what the heck. Can't hurt, can it? Well no more than your average story rejection :V
