Yesterday was a damned good day.... starting around 4 ;p
Well, classes were okay, though I was having a hard tie concentrating during 611. I left immediately to go run errands before leaving for Austin, and managed to accompish nothing I'd set out to do.
Then called LeeAnne and left! Nice drive there, saw lots of cows. Saw a mailbox in the shape of a cow, painted to look like a Jersey - the typical black and white cow, even though most of the cows I've een here are Angus and I've not seen a single Jersey! It amused me, anyway :)
Go in to Austin around 6:20, and was dropped of att the concert place - basically a big enclosed outdoor courtyard at a BBQ place. bought a ticket, waited in lie for ~40 min. I'd had to pee since we got to Austin, so the first thing I did was find the bathroom. Then I bought a t-shirt (almost bought a hoodie, but restrained myself), and a pulled Pork sandwich, um! I parked myself underneath some stairs to eat, and stayed there pretty much the whole night, as it gave me a great view of the stage from an angle slightly above the rest of the crowd, and lucked out in that everyone in front of me was short! :D It was a great location, I was pleased.
The opening act was Lavender Diamond - they sort of melancholy folk-y rock, I'd say. They had some pretty good numbers, none of which were on the short demo album they had for sale, so I refrained. The lead signer reminded me of Krystal, actually. She had a clear voice in her lower register, but the higher stuff was a little weaker, which was a bit unfortunate. She had a really great tone to her voice though.
After LD, there was an intermission to set up the stage for the mai act. The played Peter and the Wolf! This thoroughly confused some of the younger generation, who were all 'wtf is this? o_O' It amused me :D
And then they came out! hey were awesome, and filled me with delight. Colin Meloy made us do vocal warm ups because we were signing along ;) (scales: ~this is a wonderful show...~ ;) They did a lot of songs I really like, especially from the new album (of course) but they have sooo many songs that I really love that I was bound to be dissappointed by *something* being left out ;)
They had a great encore - posibly even more energy than the first bit of the show, and they did a song I'd never heard before (Culling of the Fold), which was pretty awesome!
After the show I had to walk to a nearby Hotel in order to call LeeAnne. i aited around with a bunch of people to se if they wold come out to see people, but worried about missing my drive, an went to wait for her instead. However, she saw the when she came to get me, and I went then. I met and spoke briefly with Colin Meloy (got him to sign my ticket) and saw Jenny Conlee, but she was geting pics with other people and I didn't get to say more than a generic "that was really awesome" or smething along those lines. Anyway, I am greatly pleased.
The drive home wasn't too bad (~1:40 on empty empty roads, home around 1:30). Then I got to read the excellent new Caena chapter, and then bart convinced me to do some Exia IC so that I was up until stupid o'clock and am still sitting around my house in my underwear :V
I am going to get dressed in gym clothes, go pick up my prescriptions from across he street, maybe buy an umbrella, and go to the gym before class. Woot! Tonight I believe I am to watch come Clint with my excellent sister :D
(I lied - I never went to the gym. There wasn't really time if I wanted to do any reading. I'll go after class tomorrow, since I don't have to be home early for LOTA)
