Yesterday was a busy day!
I went and checked out the Changeling LARP. The cam still sort o conceptually makes me grit my teeth whenever I think about ti too hard, but Changeling is quite a bit like crack. I miss it :( The game was small, and slow to start. I'm not sure if that is the normal thing or not. There was one other girl there and she is of the type who at least seem to be so shy that they might implode. I don't think she said a single thing all game. Generally the people seemed quite nice.
As i was leaving, I wandered into the MSC to go pee, and found myself in Gamehalla! Okay maybe not gamehalla, but I was quickly informed that this was the weekend of the local gaming club's annual on. I wandered around the dealer room (meh) and met some folks. They even had a giant board laid out for live action roborally! I know that concept will excite some of you. They had tinfoil hats for people to wear to represent their robots. t looked kind of fun. Alas the last bus leaves campus at 6, and though I did have a few people tell me that if I stayed they could get me home later, I am wary of relying on offers from peoples whose names I don't even know! :V Instead I got info about the usual club meetings, and will see about checking that out next Sunday.
I got home, and Claire called almost immediately to see if I wanted to meet her at her place (she was at school), get food, and then go to the regular Saturday night thing (Firefly and mst3k!). She lives about a 1/2 hr walk away - not too far. Alas when i got to her house, her feet were really too badly blistered to walk over to Sam's, so we stayed in. We talked about all things ASOIAF (She'd heard of the books beforehand, but I actually lent her book one. She got the others from the library. It is fun to watch someone go through everything ^-^ She is making me keep book 4 from her until she has finished a certain amount of school projects, etc, which seems fair. they don't have it in the library... I have the power!
The other thing we did was watch an asston of Stargate: Atlantis. I really like the format for the Stargate shows: it is episodic and you can have your aliens of the week, but you *also* have overarching plots and continuity. I also like both casts. Good fun. l *also* think the Wraith (the longterm Atlantis villains) are pretty cool, given that they are Zombie Elf Lordi-Reject Who Take Fashion Tips from Cenobites. I think it has a lot to do woth the first S:A ep I ever saw, which is one from the most recent season where ( cut for spoilers just in case ) The chemistry is quite interesting, and the plot comes off seeming less cliched than it does as just described. I was there late, and crashed there. We geeked about different various things more this morning, watched more Stargate, and I made it home just in time for a shower and lj before exia pre-game stuff :)
