...Mostly smells like pee.

The conference was fun, but not *amazingly* fun. I did some good wandering, found a kickass candy shop (Would you like a free sample? Would you like another? How about another?), and had a good time hanging out with people. However, our hotel was far enough away from the conference that we only got to see it at night, which made for some long days, and falling asleep in at least one session. I was disappointed that the conference organizers didn't have more info on things to do in Sacramento. We did not get a picture of us dressed up in burlesque/bordello costumes, because I am disorganized, ahh well. I did however get free stuff (a hat I will probably never wear and a t-shirt that will be good for sleeping in/the gym - I'd already bought one that fits better) for volunteering, and possibly also having a nice rack.

I would also like to note that they, in fact, *do* have palm trees in Sacramento, as well as a surplus of homeless people, and thus lots of alcoves that smell like pee. That is probably the thing I will remember the longest. But hey, at least I can now say that I've been out west. whee!

At some point, I should make a post about how I really enjoy traveling, but right now I'm going to get dressed and maybe go and get a few groceries, and so forth. I also need to do laundry. And work on my thesis. I must also remember that I have dance class tonight.

Sas, when do you want to watch bees? Or any other of the MST3K's I should have soon?

It is 3:00. I have to leave here at 5, or shortly after, to go to class. I have finally showered and such, and done some minor things like banking and such that I could do from home, as well as chat a bit on the net. So Should I go out and get groceries now? I have some other errands to run too, like mailing things. I guess I'd better go now, and get something actually done.

In other news, I have downloaded most of another 2nd season ep of House, which I will probably watch tonight. [livejournal.com profile] tsiankiio, I still need to borrow your first season, so that I can see the rest of it.

- see Bill mallet about SEVIS stuff
- Pay tuition remainder
- Make an appointment to see Patricia Richards for tax crap
- Class at 2:30
- Anth soc meeting at 5:15

Okay... now I am off to dance class, though for some reason I am less excited about this than I should be. Possibly it is because of the anabaptists.
Mood:: 'blah' blah
Music:: some instrumental song off the Desperado soundtrack, though I forget the name.

Today I didn't get up until nearly eleven. I fucked around on the internet, and watched the rest of the episode of House I'd been watching right before I left for Sacramento. I did some banking: paying internet bills, and so on, so that if everything is in order I can go and pay off my tuition balance tomorrow. I made room on my Visa, because then I didn't have to mess around with getting Canadian funs to my US bank. Hopefully the transfer will have cleared by tomorrow, but I'll check first.
After some more useless dithering (also a shower), I headed out to buy some groceries. I got back with some basics around 4:30: hardly enough time to do anything productive before dance class. I got my stuff together for that and left shortly after five. I should have left *at* five: I was a hair late, but so were lots of people, so whatever. I think I am learning one of the new dances quite well. The sessions seem so short this tie around, but I think that is just because we are trying to do so much more with the time. The cane dance eludes me, but I don't like it so much and so I am less inspired and generally care less. I got home and watched a newly downloaded episode of house and made dinner, and then spent most of the rest of the night Icing with Bronwen online, as it was her birthday. I have also done some laundry.

So, a decent day for house necessaries and personal hygiene (I'm having an excellent hair day ;), but a crap day for thesis progress. Tomorrow will also be a bust due to all the other stuff I have to do, unless I can get something done tomorrow night. I do have an article to read, at least, and after tomorrow I'll have a better idea what the workload will be for my one other class. I really have to get moving on writing. And I can do this. I really really can. I have to. Rar.

I think I will make myself do regular progress reports to try and keep on track, with thesis writing. maybe with other writing as well. I will try and get out a short 'Pieces' excerpt this week as well. It is all about making myself stick to deadlines.

Also, I am strongly considering switching to Cable (cox) over DSL (Sprint). Anyone have arguments for or against? Cox is running a deal until the end of the month where I can get 19.95/mo for the first three months, and get a full rebate on a motorola modem. I do have a cable jack, though I don't have a tv, and I don't think I get free cable here.
