I am cooking glazed carrots and parsnips right now, for the dinner later today. I'm not sure if
tsiankiio and Boy (I do his name, I 'm just preserving anonymity ;p) are coming to pick mne up after church or if I should call someone else. Well, if I'm still here around one, I'll call. Also, I have to admit, I am curious what exactly a Unitrarian easter service would be like :o I'll have to ask. I hadn't intended to put snips in with the carrots, but I just found out this mornin that Stephanie and Sami are going to be there! So now, I hope I hve enough... veggies. ¬_¬ It'll all work out.
It isn't teally a tradition in our family to have an easter dionner. In more recent years, Mom, Hazel and I would go down to Bruno's, the restairant in the Sheraton, for their Easter brunch. It is usually pretty good. Really, though, we weren't often able to all get together, because I was away, and so on and so forth. last year we went though. We almost didn't. Hazel and I were going to go with dad for a weekend in some Lodge he and Jennifer had been awarded a weekend at for helping with a charity event at their church. Hazel couldn't get the time off work, and I don't remember why I couldn't, or didn't, go in the end. We went to brunch with mom instead. It was nice to see her, and she seemed to be doing pretty well. We all chattered about various crap. I don't think the food was really as good as I had remembered it being in past years. The chef had changed... and so had the management, now that I thikn if it. It wasn't the Sheraton anymore by then, it was the Delta. I'll blame the chef for the food not being as good, but it was set up differently (people were eating in the ballroom as opposed to the restaurant proper), and I'll credit the management with that idea. But there was still lots of good stuff... thin crispy bacon, omeletts and fresh-made waffles, ham, cereals, smoked fish, fresh fruit and veggies, piles and piles of desserts... Yum. I don't remember what all we talked about, but it was nice.
Hazel said that it was the last time she saw mom before she went into the hospital. I don't think that is true for me. I'm sure I saw her, at least, briefly, after that. Maybe to pick somethignnup at the house, or to get a drive somewhere, or *something*. but ist is the last really nice, good memory I have before the hospital. And that's good. It makes me remember all sorts of other things. I keep wondering what the garden at the house looks like this year, and what the new owners will think of sall those early blooming flowers. I'm positive they must have crocuses, and maybe some daffodils, peeking up by now. They had better appreciate them.
