I just bought my ticket to see Hazel in the Uk! *dance*! I will be there almost a whole month! *more dancing*! I am leaving here on the 14th of December, and returning the 10th of January! I am also, maybe, going to do a bit of other travelling in that period, but I will make sure to try and see some other UK folks while I am there *especially* when I am at the SHA conference in York form the 5th to the 10th :D Yay! I'm all excited :D

Now, I am going to call about my credit card, and then try and do some work.

Holy crap, is it ever warm here today :o

Oil my head, yeah, rub it all in good, oil me up nice... now, Beat me!

A girl myst do what her drum commands, right? ^-^

I took my bodhran out tonight, I'm sure to the great annoyance of the neighbours. I am very glad that it hasa nice case these days, to keep the dust off. the head was a little dry, so I've just oiled it. Now, I don't mean to sounds too arrogant in this next bit, so, if I do, forgive me.

I've always had a knack for percussion. I pick up on rhythms very quickly, and I have decent hand coordinatrion and even independant coordination, when called for. That's when you are getting different parts of you to move in different rhythms, as is required for kit drumming, and other things, I'm sure. It's a littl like isolations in belly dance, but I think it is more a matter of mental control than *purely* muscular. Not that dance is, mind, but that is a bigger factor than in drumming, where you tend to already have at lest *some* rudimentary control over your hands, fingers and feet ;) I hope! Anyway, I'm getting off topic. I've generally been able to pick things up pretty fast, and retain them fairly well. I'm not saying I pick things up perfectly the first time through, but generaly at the first session with something new, I can get it down passably well.

This is a benefit and a curse, because it means that I don't actually end to practice enough as I should to make myelf *really* good. This is a pattern that holds true for a lot of other aspects of my life too.... Also like dance, or martial arts.

Anyway, I can still remember all the right techniques for the bodhran. I can do the neat little backsticking things and everything. if I practiced more, I could pronably become pretty damned good. Only, well... I'm in Greenville. This makes me sad. Maybe I should look more into the contra-dancing folks, or something. Hrm. :/

In other news, I organized my files this afternoon, and got a couple more boxes away. i actually moved the boxes I am keeping (I'm not staying here forever, afterall!) under my bed, out of the way, and tidied up my sewing bits a little more. And I think again that I just have sooooo much space :o What will I do with it all? :o

I think I am going to talk to Kristen tomorrow about going up to Walmart and getting some bookshelves, and seeing if they might have a: bikes or b: futons. Arr.

I am going to make dinner. Are people showing to #changeling tonight?
