Everytime I am at Stu and I walk by the 'George Martin' Hall, I have to smirk. Or, giggle like a school girl, and think of things like making banners for various ASOIAF houses and hanging them in the litle cafeteria/study area there.
Theaching is still goign well. I taught three classes yesterday, and of the lot, the first went the best... a better, more responsive class, and also, I was actually able to fill up all of the alloted time. For the other two, I gave pretty much the same lecture, but only took up about half. However, I did stick around to talk to individual students who were interested in what I said, and I did get a lot of postive comments from the students in all the classes.
Today, I teach Scope and Methods again, and I need to make some notes on the articles we are goign to go over.... Mary Douglas's stuff on pollution, and Levi-Strauss and (hiss!) myth analisis(hiss!). It isn't that don't understand myth analysis, I just think it is about the most completely on-crack theory that has ever been even somewhat accepted in the discipline. Okay, maybe not, but it is up there :p
Also, Peter Lovell, one of the most awesome UNB proffs I ever had, is going to come in and watch me teach today! And since he is an anth proff, I feel especially required to be insightful, and whatnot. Also Glad they have already muddled through Geetrtz. He really likesGeertz. At least this is a decent class... Enough people talk to make it interesting. If I get through the readings quickly, I'll talk to them a bit about what I did for my thesis, maybe, or else go into Evolutionary theory stuff for the readings that I *think* they will be doing for next week...
Tomorrow, I take one class to the Beaverbrook, and then I am going to have the intro classes do some group work, discussing the readings they have done for this week. I am going to try and come up with some questions for them to consider, if I have a chance... mostly just something to give them a starting point on their discussions. Because they are first years. ^-^
Arr!
...Bugger. I just got an e-mail from Peter saying that he can't come after all, because he has an appointment he can't break. Poop! :( I'll live I guess...
Time to shower and read.
