Oy. So, tonight, I went out to a club with some friends of Joel's from school. Joel is too sick to come out and play though. I think this was relatively brave of me, seeing as I'd met most of them once or twice and only knew maybe two or three of their names.
It was an 80's retro night, and I was encouraged to dress up, so I kind of did. Mostly the hair and overdone green eye-shadow took me back, I think. The black velvet cross-strap jazz-dance dress I wore is very versatile... Anyway, pretty much no one else at the club bothered.
I was one of the first people there. I had a vodka and lime, and sat around and waited. Eventually people I recognized showed up. They didn't recognize me straight off, but that was okay, So I sat and kind of socialized and waited for people to want to dance. eventually I convinced a couple to investigate the barren dance floor with me, but they didn't last out a song. So I danced all alone in a corner by myself.
I should make some notes on this club. Is seems like a fairly cool place. It is called 'Club Abstract', and it has a cool 3-d art-y ceiling that looks like it came from the good first or second edition changeling art, plus other random art-y bits around the place. ON one side of the dance floor is a huge screen. They showed the first Highlander movie, some old Superman cartoons, an episode of the Simpsons, and some other random crap while I was there (silent of course). As for music, they played maybe 10 songs total that I didn't recognize.
On the downside, the club got very very packed, so good dancing was nigh impossible, and I was reduced to standing in one spot and wiggling like mad. The fact that I hardly knew anyone there was also a bit of a downer, especially since everyone else were already part of the group. I think they were starting to open up to me though...
So, I took the bus there, and my plan was to take the bus back partway, and then walk (The bus that would take me all the way home stopped running at 9. It was on its final run when I went out, in fact). Unfortunately, I missed it by about 5 minutes... if that :/
So, I walked home. It was about 45-50 minutes, I'd guess. My feet hurt not because of the socks I was wearing, and the fact that I've never worn the boots that I had on before (could be worse though, so I'm not *really* complaining. I was rather impressed that it wasn't worse in fact. So, thanks again for those boots Shan ;D The shiny black ankle ones with the bunches of little buckles that actually zip, should you recall.)
Something I like to do when walking late at night is sing to myself. It is distracting, and I think that it helps my lungs to control my breathing and so on, and also, singing and walking is just plan *hard* to do well. And I can practice my songs.
I also like to try and not sing the same song twice in a night. Which mean that I know a *lot* of songs, I think...
( Here is a more-or-less complete list of the ones I sang tonight! Whee! )
