My slippers.
I really wanted a pair of leather moccasins for... Christmas or my birthday, a year or so ago. I got some, from my mom. I was, and still am, very happy with them. I bought them with the expectation that they would last. I'd heard testamonials from people (strangers, mind) who'd said they'd had pairs that lasted them decades.
And yet, the leather on the soles of mine is starting to wear though. There is in fact a tear in the bottom of one of them now. They are insulated, so I don't feel it when wearing them, but I know it is there. And on the other slipper, it seems fine. I'm wondering, is one of my slippers just made of thinner leather, by fluke of nature or diseased cows, or did I step on something sharp, or what?
Anyway, I'm sad. I like these slippers a lot. They are very warm. Maybe too warm. Maybe their warmth lead me into a false sense of security, and I wore them outside, on hard snow or pavement one too many times. I just don't know.
I'm not giving them up, though. I'll wear them until they fall apart!
