So, what did I do today, hmmm?

I got a lot of stuff done! None of it school related, but, hey. I am working this week, just not very hard, okay?

First thing I did today was: Search the internet to see if I could find any pictures of French gravestones. I even used French keywords in my searches, and got, well, nothing good. I really need to see some continental European stones for my dissertation! Fortunately, I got my Spanish friend, Kumar, to agree to take some pics of stones in Barcelona for me. Yay! Thanks Des-head :D

Second thing I did was finish reading Crosstitch/Outlander, which Mary had bouhgt me. It's quite a long book. I would definitely call it historical romance fiction. Yes, its got time travel and whatnot, and it isn't *all* sex, there is real plot... but it does have many 'naughty bits'. I guess I could say, in that regard, that it is quite a lot like Jean M. Auel's books: decent characterization, interesting historical fact mixed with fictions, a plot... but at the same time, much gratuitous sex. Nothing too graphic, but enough uses of phrasing like 'quivering', 'delving', 'he came inside me' and whatnot to make me roll my eyes a bit. Oh yes, and "If I here a horse, I'd let him ride me all day." I did enjoy the book. I'm not quite sure I'll rush out to buy all the rest of the book in the series, but I may borrow them from Mary if I need something to read ;)

Thirdly, I did a bit of writing, which you can all see the results of below. Go me! I also just posted that and the other little character sketch/ story fragment I write here a month or so ago to on of my mailing-list based writing groups for feedback...

Fourthly, I have a boot! Yes, a boot! All my Americans can pretend I'm saying it aloud for their amusement ;p But I do! It's even right side out now, and everything :) Now I just need to make the other one, and finish up other various bits of kit, because in about a week and a half, I'm going to my first Medieval soc. event, at kennilworth castle :D Should be lots of fun :D The week after that is a friend's medieval wedding, and also a dance thing of some varitey... I'm missing the Siouxie and the Banshees concert though :( Can't have everything I guess. As an aside, I also discovered, much to my delight, that there is now a second dance class on Monday nights, right after the first. So now I get 2 hours of dancing. One is just movements, and the second is choreographed dances. And we are *finally* learning a new one, too, which is quite cool...

The other thing I did tonight was game, and after I'd finished my boot, I wandered down to the pub to meet with people there, and I recruited a new player for my vampire game, that being Phil from my Changeling game (not the Phil who runs the Vampire LARP). Only he'll be playing a mage of some flavour or other, which is quite fine with me at this point. It should spice things up quite nicely :D Either a hermetic or a Euthanatos. Both have a lot of potential, I think, even if the game is only going to last until the end of September...

I also did a little bit of plotting for my Vampire character while at the pub. Some people are trying to convince me I should try and become clanhead. Hee! Could be fun, but it isn't something that my character necessarily wants. I'm hoping to be able to get some interesting plans in action, though, to deal with the current werewolf problem, heh heh heh...

And I think that is enough geeking for tonight. *hop*
