All right! My friend [livejournal.com profile] vess has started posting stories in his livejournal. It's great! I love stories, especially when I have been involved in any part of the process of creating them. And unless I'm completely wrong, I have been, so yay me, and Yaaaaay Vess for writing! So anyway, It has made me want to do something more interesting here. Maybe I'll follow suit and post some stories. maybe it will inspire me to do more creative writing.

I am actually involved in one very big writing project with [livejournal.com profile] longpig and my friend Ceiridwen. It is very slow going, because it is hard for the three of us to get organized enough to figure out what we are doing, and also hard for us all to find time to actually write. I think we are all pretty damned good storytellers though. We'll have to find a good venue or so to distribute our story to once it is finished. It is going to be quite long, I'll wager. I have my first bit written, and it is 22 pages long. Rar!

There are also a few short stories that have been plaguing my mind for a while. There is a cool one about a Damphire that I'd really like to get out. I tried writing it once, but it wasn't quite ready to come out. I think I need to get a better handle on the voice of it, and figure out the ending better. Maybe I'll try and do that over the break.

Oh, right, I guess I also have that whole dissertation thing to write too, and a handful of essays. But they don't really count, do they? ^-^

...Among other things, T.S. Elliot's poem the Wasteland seems to be haunting me lately. Mary mentioned it once in passing and then I've seen at least three references to it since then that have stuck with me, and all to that line. Funny how the world reminds you that something exists, and then it won't let you forget :o

Anyway. Maybe I'm not quite so badly off. J.V. Jones's new book comes out on Thursday. I'm very excited, I've been waiting quite some time for it, and it is coming out here waaaaay before it will be out in the states or Canada. I could order it through Amazon, who are selling it for about 15 pounds, plus shipping. Or I can go around to the bookstores and see how much they are hawking it for. I very rarely buy hardcovers. April is certainly going to be the most Expensive month for me... In theory, I fianlly have to pay off all my tuition :o At least that will mean I can actually budget for things, though. Stupid variable exchange rate :/

Anyway. I'm going to need strenght to avoid buying that book. But I'll be away this weekend, so maybe I can minimize my exposure. I'm going to the Gaming Nationals, but more on that later. I hope it doesn't mean missing a late Easter dinner with Mary, Ian, and some other people :/
