It's been a pretty quiet day, though I was once again too late leaving the house, and a little late in to work. I don't think anyone noticed though :p And I still got a lot of stuff done. In fact... I'm almost done with the Tiffany already! Which sounds impressive, but there really wasn't all that much of it. I'm going to go through and check tomorrow if I finish up the box I started today.
What else - I managed to fuck up my knitting again, by dint of not being able to read. maybe I *should* teach myself to read charts, it might help my knitting dyslexia :p Fortunately I am getting really good at fixing shit without having to unpick all the way back. I should be making actual forward progress as of tomorrow though! I hope...
I'm currently reading Return to Night by mary Renault - my first Renault novel, though I also took out The Charioteer at the same time, and will probably start it next. I also have an ILL book on the go, Vicious by Victoria Schwab, which I stumbled across randomly and thought looked good. It is YA though, and it is not really gripping me the way I'd hoped yet. It has characters that on the box look like they should be really "my type", but...enh. I'm reading RTN as part of a read-along, and my plan is to take Vicious along to tide me over when I'm finished the chapters for the week. I don't like not finishing books, so hopefully I can get through it before it has to go back, since I'm not sure if it is renewable.
I got my yarn sorted out, I hope. I found some other retailers who had the stuff I wanted in enough skeins that all came from the same dye batch, and I baaaaasically just went with the first one that got back to me, even though ti was the more expensive one >.> It wasn't a huge difference between the two anyway. But it should have shipped this morning, so score! If I were clever I would have also ordered a second 32" cable for my needles, either from Webbs or from... this little yarn shop in Oregon that I forget the name of. For Yarn's Sake. I checked my email :p Yarn! In case you are wondering, it is Malabrigo Rios in the Volcan colourway, for a sweater. A snuggly, snuggly sweater :3
I had game last night, and after a fairly long break where we played another game entirely, and then a sort of side story in our main D&D game (Adventure World!), I got to play my main character again! It was so nice :D Not that I haven't enjoyed the others, but I do particularly enjoy playing the charismatic leader types. Possibly because I'm a masochist :p Anyway, it was nice, though this is just for another short story bit, and then we'll be playing another, different set of folks for a bit - all of these small stories are interweaving into something larger though, and it is cool to explore it and build up to it like this :)
Saturday I woke up brimming with ideas and inspiration and fell back asleep, woke up grumpy, and have not really been able to recapture any of it, save in fits and starts. My grumpyness comes and goes as well. Maybe I should go to bed early tonight? After I wash my hair in the sink? That will surely help my grumpyness >.>
The handyman came today and we think we know what's causing the leak in the tub, and he thinks he can fix it tomorrow. We'll see, I guess! If he is right, it is not the drain, but the overflow drain getting water in it somehow? I'm not sure - I wasn't here while he was poking at stuff. If that's all it is, it should be a super easy fix! I will be here tomorrow when he's actually fixing it though.
I've completely run out of writing steam again, which is sad because I had so much momentum there for a while! Ahh well - signups close for the Invisible Ficathon tomorrow, and maybe getting that assignment will jump-start me again. I still have that Raksura fic to write as well. Hrm.
No Black Sails for me tonight, which means that any related meta is also on hold until I can get a hold of and watch he episode! In other TV news, I have been hearing Really Good Things about True Detective...
